In Mark 8 there’s a strange miracle. In a strange twist, the miracle to heal a blind man doesn’t “take effect” the way it’s expected to. While there could be debate over why Jesus “corrected” the miracle, that’s not the only situation involving people’s sight. Later in the same chapter, Peter sees Jesus in the correct light as Messiah. After Jesus foretells his sufferings, Peter then sees him in the wrong light.
That same issue might come up in the present, in our own walk with Jesus. We can have thoughts and ideas that “blind” us to what Jesus really “looks like” and become confused about the message. Jesus still calls us to “give up our own way” and follow him. What does that look like in your life? What are some ways we can show Jesus more clearly around us?
